Hi,
I have the opportunity to acquire one or the other but I have a dilema.
The 686 is deffinately more popular but the stock is rather plain. I have tried them both and can find no appreciable difference in fit
The Ruger has very nice wood and the receiver is all stainless.
Does the Red Label have the legendary longevity which made the rifles famous or would I be better with the safe bet and the 686?
I will be using the gun mainly for skeet and sporting clays, price is not a consideration but the cost of the 686 is as high as I can manage.

Both are excellent quality I have owned and shot both I seemed to shoot the Ruger better simply a better fit for me that may be the way you decide which is for you.

1. No.

2. The 686 will withstand extensive use much better.

I did quite a bit of research on the red label because my club shoots rain or shine and I wanted the all stainless model that they used to sell...and because of that research I've just learned to keep an aerosol can of Remoil and some absorbent paper towels in the truck for my o/u. If I had to choose, Id go with the Beretta.
