To bad they didn't make a model 29 or a 629 with the same length barrel, that would be sweet. I have my 12(6) and 3 4" 29's and they are fun to shoot with full house rounds, just would like to share the experience with others that don't have there 12(6).
You are going to have a lot of fun with that Ruger, a nice dose of 2400 powder under a 240 grn swc should put a smile on your face and some flames out the barrel.

does epps still get these rugers ? and how much did it set you back ? is this better than the s&w 629?
I cant seem to find them for sale anywhere at the moment? P&D doesnt have anything listed. I am getting pretty stoked on this one. Been a few years since I have bought a new Restricted toy, but this is a must have I think.

I've been waiting for one of these for awhile. I saw one come up in 45 Colt and snapped it up. Everything I had hoped it would be.

4" barreled revolvers are really fun and can be accurate more than you would think. Elmer Keith shot flying fish at more than 100 yards with his beloved 4" Model 29, and shot many coyote at a "far" distance with two shots or less.
As far as production guns go, past and present I would say Colt Python is the top of the list for double action and single action smoothness. Then comes pinned and recessed smith and wesson and then ruger.
For strength there was an article in one of the gun rags about 20 years ago that purposely blew guns up to see what was the strongest.
Ruger Super Redhawk was number one, then Ruger Super Blackhawk then Smith and Wesson 629 E package then the earlier model 29 and then a Taurus 44 mag.
Most rugers now have an acceptable trigger right out of the box and with some spring changes are good.
After all you are buying the short barrel revolver to have fun with and that you will.
My understanding is the new Redhawks have a single spring which makes the DA feel a lot better than the old Rugers. A lot of dry firing will also smoothen the trigger out. I've been wrong about stuff before
