Ruger Redhawk 4.2" 44 mag

Revolvers are the only HG's that I'm ok with finished in stainless.
It would be a difficult choice to pick between a stainless or blue. I'd probably end up getting one of both:eek:

Not that difficult, as previously stated, this handgun is NOT available in blued finish.

These were done by one of our local smiths. Until very recently the upper one was up for sale at one of the local stores.

Sorry but it's not mine to sell. I saw the gun and the shop guy said that they were done by the local smith that operates as Rusty Wood Trading. I got the picture above from his web site. It's but a Google away and there's a few more shots of these and some other nice work.

I've never been all that crazy about the heavy look of the Super Redhawk but when I saw the burly chunkiness of it in THIS format the salivary glands started working overtime :D

I only got to see it and handle it for a moment while it was up for sale and the other guy bought it while I was there.
 
A 4.2" Redhawk in .45LC is on my spring buy list. I have a great 250 gr mold for the .45 with a very wide meplat. Works well in my Beretta SAA but would go a lot faster in a Ruger. Why .45? Its bigger than a .44 Mag and can be loaded with a bigger bang.

I never cared much for the frame extension either but somehow these just look RIGHT! I think it's because the cylinder, frame extension and barrel are all the same length. Couple this with the honkin' big front sight ramp and the detailing and you have a revolver that should be staring in a blockbuster movie of some sort.
 
Hmmm. Never really thought about unfluted cylinders. I suppose its just styiling as appose to function, right? You could purchase one and put it in...

Now there's an idea. Wonder if the unfluted cylinder from the.44mag super redhawk would swap right in.

I received a status from the dealer today. My revolver will not be available until "early 2011":eek: Whatever that means.
I've been waiting less than 3 wks since I put in the order but it already seems like an eternity.
"Early 2011" is gonna kill me....:(
