ruger redhawk 45 acp/colt

noticed ruger has a redhawk that can shoot 45 acp and colt. anyone else think this is interesting? i think its a cool idea.

Realistically speaking you can probably bring it down to 13-14 pounds. Lower than that and reliability will go to hell.

I have an older 5.5" Redhawk in .44 Mag. It has a spring kit in it and that brought the trigger pull down nicely. SA feels like ~4lb and DA is 12lb at most, maybe a bit lighter. Reliability has not been affected at all.

I shoot DA as SA almost all the time due to the trigger pull. As far as this gun the two rounds will fire different and hit different point of aim, point of impact. Also if shooting say .45ACP almost all the time than the cylinder would foul up and have to be cleaned before .45Colt would be inserted. Personally I think Ruger has a few quality control issues lately as well to be watched out for. In theory it is a great idea, in practice not as great but alright. You should plan to shoot one of these rounds mostly and set the gun up for that. If you go for moon clips get the tool to load and unload the moon clips. Or make one, hard to do it by hand and the tool makes it much easier.

The data at the end of the video say "9.9 lbs" for double action pull and 7 lbs for single action.

This gun may encourage S&W to introduce a similar model. I own a 625 and a 610 they are great guns. I prefer a 6 inch bbl. though. If a Model 25 was introduced to shoot .45ACP I would have that on my list as well.

Considering it is just a Redhawk in a new calibre I can't imagine that the RCMP will be involved beyond simply issuing a new FRT sub number to add the new calibre to the system.
