Ruger RedHawk or Super RedHawk .44 mag or .454 Casull

Personally, I would go with the Redhawk in 44. Those SRH's are fugly. I loved my Redhawk and still miss it. Will have to get another soon ;)

There is one revolver that you might want to consider. I have a 4.2" Ruger Redhawk in 45 ACP/Colt. It is very economical and a soft shooter in 45ACP. But for sh#t and giggles, the Ruger can be loaded up very HOT.

I like this. On my bucket list. I have a Blackhawk 45acp/45Colt. The Redhawk would be a natural twin...well sort of. On the other hand I have a bunch of 44 mag brass and the mold for the caliber.

How do the 45 acp loads shoot my experience with loading/shooting .451" bullets in my 45 Colts was definitely not good...

I size my 45 acp cast bullets .452 and they work just fine. I use 200 gr LSWC Lyman bullets. I have pretty matched up the velocities between the .45acp and my 250 gr Colt loads. The POC is still different so I marked my rear sight. and just change it when I switch from one round to another. The .452 bullets work well in my 191l's. The barrel just does the sizing for me. Off a bench the gun shoot both cartridges equally well.

I'm trying to grasp the point of doing this can you still use your .452" 45acp loads in a regular 45acp firearm?

I just down load my 45 Colt...

Yes on the sizing question. Until I bought a bunch of 45 Colt brass I wanted the option of using 45acp brass for which I had a significant amount. I have found accuracy using either cartridge to be as good as I can shoot. I also have shot 451 lead bullets through the gun with no noticeable difference in accuracy. The lead bullets seem to obuterate enough to seal the bore. I do not experience any leading either. I did cut the forcing cone to 11 degrees. The throats on both cylinders were not tight enough to warrant reaming them out which was a pleasant surprise. One thing I have done is to isolate and dedicate my 45acp brass to the Ruger. 45acp brass used in my semis will attract burrs from the extractor. As you would guess burrs on the case rims does not make for a happy experience when using your revolver. One trip to the range early on had me begin isolating the brass I use in my revolver.

I use 8 gr of Unique in the 45Colt under my 255 gr bullets. Warm enough for my wrists liking. I have mild arthritis in my hands so playing fireball is not much interest to me. 8 gr of Unique will work on anything I would run into up here.

Local dealer to me has a SRH in 44 Mag with a 9.5 inch bbl, a good scope as well. I saw it yesterday but only a glance. Price is $1200. PM me I will give you the link. Non supporting dealer.

I really enjoy my S&W 460 (5.5" barrel), I shoot 240 grain XTP-MAGs in front of 48 grains of H110. For shats and giggles I took out the muzzle brake and shot it "once", lets just say I won't do that again. I tried some 300 grain rounds but found they carried a little too much recoil. Overall a real fun gun to shoot. Most know you can also shoot 45 colts, 45 long colts, 45 Schofield, 454 Casuls, and of course 460's out of this pistol making it extremely versatile. I only shoot my 460 reloads out of it though, they pack a real punch.
