Ruger releases the new PC Carbine

Well I owned a berreta Carbine and loved it was in 40 but sold it once I had it rebarreled non restricted did not feel good with the heavier barrel never owned a melted Carbine and never will after the ksg crap I went through I own a Jt takedown model in .40 that takes Glock mags it’s about the best option out there for me at least till they start bringing in the sig off with non restricted barrel and in rifle format

After market barrel in 7.62 x 25 with a modified mag housing for Tok mag's would be a fun gun!

do Americans even shoot Tok's??
i mean are they as plentiful as they are up here?

cause if not then i wouldn't imagine they would venture that way for an expansion of the caliber's.

Would have been nice to offer a 40 cal version too. Hopefully will be offered NR. Also wish the ghost ring would have been mounted in the more traditional location to increase sight radius.

If they offer a NR version in Canada then the longer barrel (probably unthreaded) will increase the sight radius by 3". I have Skinner sights installed on the barrel of my 10/22 Takedown and they work great. Really easy to line up a shot.

I think Ruger has made a lot of good choices bringing this rifle to market. They've been listening.

a friend has a non restricted version of the Marlin 9mm Camp Carbine,it was converted to NR back when you could by simply adding a short length of tube, can't do that anymore,it takes S&W 59 series mags and is a lot of fun to play with and pretty accurate, and 10 rounds of fun,

By ratio toks are not as popular down there as they are up here, I'm sure people buy them down there too, keep in mind both by variety of choice is much bigger down south and costs of the guns are less there in general. You can buy a used glock for like 400 bucks there, and used ruger sr9s etc regularly dip sub 300s, so the cost justification to jump to a quality modern striker gun with a factory support for parts and accessories is much smaller, so in all honesty I don't see this happening. Who knows an offshoot company might be able to make a dedicated sub gun for the chambering here but odds are that would be very expensive.

“While steel-core ammunition in 7.62×25 is available internationally, in the United States the importation of 7.62×25 cartridges loaded with copper-coated steel bullets is illegal; federal law defines these as armor-piercing pistol ammunition” from Wikipedia

So, no surplus ammo and less monetary motivation to make firearms in that cartridge.

They have Tokarev pistols, but shoot new production ammo.

The TD feature holds zero appeal to me, but on a gun like this I'm not sure I'd mind. However, as a restricted range toy, this gun is completely OFF my radar. As a NR rifle, it would be a temptation. As a NR rifle with a wood stock and no take-down? I'm in. Guess I'll have to see what the next generation looks like. At least there will be time to save some $ :)

Nearly 7 lbs...

Lockhart Tactical's upcoming Raven PCC is only 5.5 lbs.

I love the takedown idea for a PCC. It's pretty cool, the popularity of the Keltec Sub2000 is a testament to the folks who see the utility in that sort of feature. Admittedly the Raven doesn't appear to be as easy a takedown as this Ruger appears to be, but it does have toolless handguard and barrel removal. And it's supporting a Canadian company that's really engaged with CGN for the features we want. I'd like to support those guys first, personally.

I hate to break it to you but your friend has an unregistered Restricted firearm there. There is no grandfathering for barrel lengthening.

Cx4 storm is a better solution. It breaks down into two pieces with one pin, is full ambi including changing the side it ejects from, takes pistol mags and is available in non restricted. Plus since it uses a pistol layout it’s shorter. The only negative for some is it’s space age look.

Only catch is the CX4 costs about double what this will assuming the Ruger distributors don't take us for a ride like Stoeger Canada does with the CX4.

It’s been out a while and many are jumping to the newest and greatest. Due to this I have found some very good deals. Restricted can be found for $700ish and non restricted about 1k.

I doubt the Ruger will be less expensive until it’s been out a while and isn’t the flavor of the month.

No , these conversions were done at a time the police did the status change .
This was pre C68 . some provinces filed the paperwork some would not .

Even better, the rcmp would look rather foolish in court laying information on an individual after they themselves approved it
