Ruger Rifles

I have had the stainless synthetic in 7mmRM for a number of years, and it shoots very nice. The only complaints I would offer are the stiff trigger, and the ugly skeleton stock. However, it's my go to hunting rifle, so a real nice wood stock would be suffering right about now.

Well since we're posting pictures...:D

Here is my new 7mm Rem Mag MKII with a Burris 3x9 Ballistic Plex.

And my new 'baby', 350 Rem Mag MKII with a Leupold VX-III 1.5x5 (this thing shot great right out of the box):

I have a left Mark II in 30-06 and it is a great gun in general. The only two things that I would say are a problem are the trigger and the forend contact.

The trigger is fairly easy to deal with if you have a good gunsmith in the area; all I had done was have him adjust the trigger I had.

I had her out hunting last year and it got rained on pretty hard for about 1/2 hour, it rained hard enough to show that the Rainguard on a Bushnell Elite really works. I took it to the range a few weeks ago to check it out to find that the rain had warped the front stock enough to move the POI by 3" diagonally. I just had the same gunsmith that did the trigger freefloat the forend; it may need a bedding job too, but I will try this first.

Now that Wincester is gone, I would replace it with another one if soemthing happened to it.

I have a pre Mark II ( tang safety) in 30-06. I am happy with it except for the trigger. Too heavy pull

Have a m77 tang safety in .338wm I agree about the heavy trigger. I put a timney trigger in it. Do it, you will love it.

All the good things said above, but I do have to add is that the action isn't nearly as smooth as some of the other rifles out there Rem 700 being one of them.

Was just out and put another 13 rounds through my RSM. 4 groups of 3 and the one fouler in the beginning. I still love it, though my shoulder is on the fence. They have an abusive relationship.;)

No doubt, I or at least my shoulder would probably have to be hospitalized after that. 30-06 and down for me.......

Have two a older 77 in 308 and an older lightweight in 243 both shoot well but the pencil barrel on the 243 needs time to cool between shots. Make sure the stocks barrel channel is sealed and may need scrapping for pressure points. If you are careful the trigger let off can be tuned without resorting to an after-market triggers.
Rugged reliabile and the rings make it a complete system. Arth

Pupzit,

I love the look of your Ruger, the Stainless scope is a nice touch.
What cal is that?
O.

7MM Rem Mag, the scope is a 2.5-10X40 Baush & Lomb 4000. I also had the trigger reworked at a gunsmith, it's a lot cheaper than an adjustable trigger , a good investment.

I have had good luck with my Model 77/22's in 22lr and 22 Hornet. I did have a Mark II stainless synthetic that had some problems. The inside of the action looked like it had not be completely finished, there were bits of metal casting sprue still there that had to be removed. The action was no where near as smooth as my Winchesters. This problem was minor compared to the fact that the barrel would not stabilize any 223 ammo I put through it. At 25 yards it would fire a pattern of about 10" with most of the bullets keyholing sideways through the tgt. I really don't know what it would do past that because we couldn't get a target big enough that we could even see where the bullets were impacting. I think that this rifle should have been returned to the factory for closer examination.

The original tang safety models had outsourced barrels that could be kind of hit and miss, but the Mark IIs have Ruger factory produced barrels that are supposed to be more consistently made. I have a new 77 Mark II Ultralight in 270 and it was fairly accuarte, 5 shot groups running about 1 1/2". With the light barrel you have to let it cool or the accuracy goes out the window, but over all a nice rifle.
