I have a new (as previously posted) Ruger M77 Hawkeye in the all weather .260 remington. Now - I have a Leupold 30mm VXR scope and can't seem to figure out what rings are supposed to be used. I'm in southwestern Ontario and need these rings yesterday... If anyone knows what rings and where I can find them - your info would be SO APPRECIATED. Thanks

Location Snapshots should have them for sure as they are Ruger Canada parts/warranty depot. I don't recall ever seeing 30mm ruger rings on a shelf anywhere I've been, except maybe the leupold variety. I'd call them first and be done.

Once upon a time Ruger would swap out 1-inch rings for a different height set if needed, as long as they were brand new. Maybe they still do...I don't know. If so, they might also give you a credit towards a set of 30mm rings...might be worth checking.

Don't forget you need 2 different heights! I think they sell rings separately now for this reason. The front base is one size higher than the rear on the 77s.

Yes, that was once upon a time, now from my experience they won't even replace defective rings...

Thanks for all the replies.. Thinking I should have stuck with my gut on this and bought a Tikka or Sako.. Too late now.. Hope this new Ruger is at least a shooter.

They are different heights but you don't buy them separately. When you buy Ruger rings one is higher than the other. Buy medium 30 mm rings and you should be good. Prophet River probably has them, click the banner at the top of the page.

I would use 'low' rings if there is enough clearance. I think you are gonna love that 260! I have an M77 260 stainless in Walnut, was a canoe paddle, what a shooter she is!

If they sold them like that they wouldn't fit my Mini-14 with parallel bases.

not all Ruger rings are like that. The rings for Ruger No.1's are the same height to make a set (front and rear). M77's do require the two different heights (front and rear) to make a set.

Just wondering... Did you find that there were a few 'rough spots' on the Ruger? Just got mine today and noticed that the 'fit & finish' wasn't exactly... great :( I do realize it is a production gun and don't expext anything close to a Sako, Cooper, even Dakota. However, as stated - its a little 'rough'. Will have to see how its shoots.. Thats what really counts.

No, no rough spots, I have quite a few M77's. I'm not sure what the new Hawkeyes are like though, I have never handled one.
I agreed with Ed Mantunas, when he once said "thank you Bill Ruger for a fine firearm at an affordable price", but that was many moons ago.
