A while back, I recieved a set of ruger stainless rings with a rifle, but when I went to install them, they were of EQUAL height. Thus they wouldn't fit my Hawkeye, as the action on my Ruger requires rings of different heights.
Is there a Ruger action that uses these rings (same height on front/back? .....such as a Ruger #1/#3 or the 77/22 or some other gun, or did I just end up getting 2 "front" rings from 2 different sets. (I.E. he mixed up a set , and sent 2 of the same height, rather than the correct set of one higher than the other???)
Thanks

M77 centefires are one height different. (ie, you need a 3/4 or 4/5 or 5/6) while 77 rimfires and ruger #1s use two the same height. Rings are the same, other than height for all these rifles and can be used on any ruger rifle.

there are low, med, & high. I like to go as low as possible, like nothing more than a C-hair or two between the scope bell OJ and the barrel. But on some No.1's, if your working with one, you will run into the pointy tip on the quarter rib, as in it may be in the way to go low! You can grind it down a bit, and dab it blue if need be, and that's only if you have the "balls" to do so! I do, but some dudes don't!

Some Rugers do have / use identical bases: The #1 with rib, 308 Scout with the rail, the 10/22 in 22 WMR (long discontinued) with the steel receiver, the 44 Mag Redhawk Hunter and the 22Lr / 22 WMR Hunter Convertable Single, both with the higher rib on the barrel.
