Ruger scope mounting issues

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this should go into the Optics forum or here but here it goes.
So I bought a new Ruger M77 all weather in 7mm Rem Mag and went with a Leupold VX2 4-12X50 for optics. I took it in to a local shop and had it mounted. There wasn't really any room to adjust for eye relief due to the ruger mounting system which wasn't really a big deal because I was getting a pretty clear sight picture anyways. But now that Im looking at the scope I'm worried that firing the rifle might damage the scope because the rear ring is just a hair away from the magnification adjustment and the front ring is pretty much right against the bell of the scope. I am just wondering if my worries are unfounded or not. Also if it is a legitimate concern do I have any options short of putting a different scope on it? My brother has the same set up and hasn't had any issues but Im wondering if maybe its only a matter of time.

You probably need to run the magnifying ring min to max, shooting groups with each. No one can say if this set up is "ok" or not without putting some rounds down range. For me, personally, and only my opinion, 50mm is too big for standard comb height stocks.

The height of the scope isn't my issue I can get a good cheek weld and I have good eye relief, I'm more worried about recoil causing the scope to move or flex ever so slightly and damaging the magnification adjustment or the bell of the scope

Under recoil, your scope is going to want to move forward, relative to the rifle. So, you won't have to worry about front bell. If it moves, looks like it would tie up your magnification adjustment ring. I just bought a pair of Ruger offset rings from the Ruger Canada warranty centre in Quebec ("Snapshots", I think the name is?) $50 each as I recall. You could go one on the front to get yourself some "breathing" room.

A ruger offset ring as above, ruger to weaver adaptor is an option too. I have a set of leupold ruger rings and they are a little thinner buy the looks of it and that would help a bit too.
If interested ill sell them, and can check the width if interested, they are between the ruger med 4/5 and high 5/6 for height would work good with your 50mm

Your scope shouldn't move in the first place so you should be fine....except for the fact that your rings weren't tightened evenly.

If this ever slips in the rings the slightest amount your scope is hooped.

Hopefully the rings were lapped so the tube isn't marked and the fit is good.

But you should have more clearance at the rear ring. I would prefer at least 1/8 of an inch. Get them to set the rear ring up in the lathe and machine a bit off the rear of it... A simple job by tightening the ring on a 1 inch tube with the end of the ring exposed.

I usually don't clamp within a 1/4 inch of the adjustment.
