Federal PowerShok 150gr 308 has a box sticker of
2134 ft pounds and 2532 FPS at 100 yards
I would guess these numbers were tested with a longer barrel.
What would be a guess on numbers from a 16.5”
And more importantly at 100 -200yards is the reduced velocity/energy going to even make a difference on a deer.
I'd say 2550-2650 from a 16" brl. If you're a bit concerned about downrange velocity/expansion/energy, choose a more aerodynamic bullet. This one would be good to try in a 308 for deer :

It's rated at 3000 fps from a 24" barrel, should be around 2700 from a short barrel. A 150gr 30 cal @ 2700 fps was the original 30-06 loading specs, it will kill
