Ruger Scout Rifle Optics, what you got

Here's mine with a LER mounted ''scout'' style. I found it better than the red dot sparc I had on it before but really either way is just marginal compared to a "normally" mounted scope IMO.
I ended up selling the rifle.
If you do a search on here there are lots of post about this rifle/scope options.

I ha an Eotech on mine for a while, and it was pretty nice, but I took it off and am looking for a scout scope now. Depends on how far you I tend to shoot from, my location is 150+ meters, so better suited to a scope. Red dot is great for closer in.

American Defense 3" rear cantilevered Picatinny mount with a Leupold VX-R 4-12x40 red dot & Turret dial custom to my reloads.

Pics later when I have time.

I tried a whole bunch of red dots and scout scopes (on my guide gun), the best I found was a IER Leupold fixed 2x scout. I also had a Burris 2 3/4x and it was too much, with the 2x you can still shoot with both eyes open and the light gathering is pretty impressive.

That's pretty much the setup I'd like.

Where did you buy the XS Sight Rail? I haven't been able to find it yet in Canada.

Just my 2 cents here... but you really don't need the XS Sight Rail with that Bushnell Elite 6500 set up as pictured above. (IF, as you stated you wanted the exact set up...meaning the scope and gun) The original picatiny rail would suffice. If you look at the rings the way they are mounted on his gun, the scope can't go any further forward. (Personally I like my rings centered on the scope, but that's just my OCD) With the original rail, you could mount the rings as far back as they go (on the rail) and that same scope would be in the same position as shown in the picture above. You would save yourself the cost of the XS rail and have the scope set up the same way. Again, just an observation here.

I mention this because I like that scope, it seems to be a very versitle scope used from jump shots to 300+ yrd snipes. I could also easily be used with both eyes open AND the original sights would be there for back up should you knock your scope out of whack in the field.

...

Finally got around to a couple quick photos of my setup. I thought of the full rail but wanted to keep the original backup ghost rings so I went the American defence cantilevered mount.

Now we're the same - except mine is a lefty, and I think my wife wants it! Ryan from SFRC got it in for me. I think he still has a matte black one in stock

Can you mount standard rings and bases on too the scout rifle? Im not a huge fan of long eye relief scopes.

The rifle comes with a set of stainless 1" rings from Ruger. Remove the rear sight, then mount the rings and scope. The front rail will have to come off if you install a scope with a 40mm or larger objective lens. A Leupold 2-7 X 33 fits without removing the rail.
