I have a Matte 30mm Leupold VX III 1.5-5x20mm ( model # 67830 ) with an illuminated Duplex reticule and am wondering if I can use it on the new Ruger 77 Scout, using the forward 'rail' mounting position...or do I have to buy a 'scout' scope to get the correct eye relief.

Anyone using one on the new Ruger yet? Also wondering if the Ruger 'rings' included with the gun would work with my scope, I'm guessing not...

For that forward mount, your scope will not work, you need an "intermediate" eye relief scope, or mount existing scope in rear mounts provided, you will have to purchase 30 mm rings as only 1" come with Rugers.

OK, just as I suspected...however all is not lost, I didn't realize there were 'rear' mounts, I guess the receiver must be tapped from the factory. That large rear sight looks like it might be an issue though...?

The large rear sight is mounted in the rear machined out area where the ring locks down.
Easy to remove and re install.
