Ruger Scouts IN STOCK!

Thanks for the mag report Coho.
I wish they could have figured out how to double stack the mags and make them work. I got a 10 round custom mag for my Savage last year and it's about the same size or just a hair bigger then the metal 5 rounder in your picture.

Take the rail off?

Just to be clear, from what I've read it comes with a ruger #5 and a ruger #4 ring, to mount a scope in the standard position. If you want to mount one forward on the rail, you need to get your own.

Clearance of the front objective above the picatinny rail using the shipped rings was reported to be 1.575inches (40mm). One post I read, the person was looking for more clearance, and he talked with Ruger. They said, "ship us the #4, swap #5 to the other end and we'll ship you a #6, which will get you more height". I might be wrong on the Ruger ring designations, but you get the idea.

I saw on a youtube video, user Hickock45 just removed the picatinny rail. It looked pretty good to be honest, and if you're not using the rail at all (either because you will go with the irons like he does, or are using the Ruger scope rings) then take it off I would say... And keep the lowest scope rings you can get away with. I don't like having my sight plane too far above the bore personally...

My only advice is to keep that rail and the screws in a safe place - your rifle would lose significant resale value if you tried to sell it without that rail.

They never have. These are the Canadian model which is actually built on a stainless M77. Us Canadians get an few extra inches of barrel length and it is stainless, much better than the american version which they are jealous of.

Not any more, "our" version is now available in the US as well

Good to see, I might grab a few 10 round steel mags.

Had very poor luck with the polymer ones, which is a shame, they seemed like they would be great, but I had tons and tons of problems with the 3 I purchased.

Thats too bad. I've got two poly mags for my Ruger Scout rifle and they both work great. In addition the top feed with the poly is super smooth.

I love the stock iron sights on it too. Wicked!
