Got my new toy today and took it and some of my other toys with me to the range. I was lucky enough to buy the only Ruger Single 10 that Roger from Shooters Choice Alberta got.
I took seven .22 pistols with me to the range today. But I will mainly only talk about three of them. This is the first Ruger single action .22 rim fire that I have ever owned before. I have shot other ones that friends have owned but that is all.
First the gun is nicely finished and worked flawlessly. The grip is a little small for my big hands but a after market grip will fix that problem. I find for my liking that all the Ruger Single Action gun grips are to small. I wondered about the loading and unloading of 10 shots but I found it no big deal at all. Didn't seem to take hardly any longer then a 6 shot. The unloading takes a bit of getting used to as it does not unload where the cylinder indexes but rather just before that, not a big deal just something to get used to.
The trigger pull is OK. Just a tiny bit of creep and a bit harder then I like. The Smith & Wesson revolvers have a nicer trigger but you pay about twice as much so they should have I guess. Accuracy is not quite as good but very close.
The sights on the new Single 10 are great if you like fiber optics as I do. Not only is the front a fiber optic but the rear is as well. They sure show nice on a dull day.
I have includes pictures of the guns and targets. The target with the Ruger was the best it shot today the two Smiths had better ones these are just average of what they did. I have enclosed one picture of my Smith & Wesson 22A and one of it targets. Just goes to show you, it is my least expensive .22 pistol and it will shoot the best. Go figure hey.
Overall as far as I as I can see Ruger has a big hit on there hands. The best part of the deal was that I got to deal with Roger from Shooters choice Alberta. I have bought 4 guns from this fellow and as far as I can see he is the very best there is to deal with. Also his prices are as good as any and for that better then most. Thanks Roger.
All guns are stock except for the front sights on the two model 617's The ammo was old IVI Imperial .22 long rifle solid bullet. All targets were shoot from a rest at 15 yards. The day was cool with s breeze from behind and from left to right, overcast.
