Hey guys, I'm interested in getting a ruger single action six. Does anyone here have opinions on this gun? I want something relatively cheap to throw some .22 and .22 mag rounds down range. Are there any other single action revolvers I should check out?
Whats the price range for this gun btw?
Thanks

I just took my new SS Ruger single six to the range yesterday. I have to say that I simply love that gun. Shot .22 short, lr and mag. I would recommend this to anybody looking for a single action .22. As for price, it isn't a cheap gun. New runs for $500-650 depending on model and location. They're on EE quite frequently for 100-200 less than that sometimes, I think.

They are a great revolver. If you are a purest and want to replicate the old west then you need to find a single six made before 1973 known as a "three screw" version, you have to set the hammer to 1/2 ####, open the loading gate and load the ammo. Since 1973 you open the loading gate and then you can load the ammo, no need to set the hammer at 1/2 ####, these are easy to distinguish as they only have two screws on the frame.

Either one are excellent and very accurate. Like any .22 for best results you need to do some ammo testing to find the best accuracy with a certain brand and then stick to that brand for that gun.

At our outdoor range I can ring the 6" 50 meter gong all day off hand with mine and at the 25 meter mark a pop can is in serious trouble.

Great gun, and I don't even own one...yet! Its on the list though.

I've gotten to shoot many of friends and they are always fun to use. Was one of the first guns I tried when starting out at gun club so many years ago.

Ruger Single Six .22lr/.22 Mag combo...

I've had one. Great SAA .22 combo gun. If you get one of these there is no need to look further... ;)

NAA.

As has been mentioned, they are durable, fairly inexpensive and accurate. A short while back I lucked out and picked up an older model that has the flat loading gate and is in mint condition.

FYI: We have a large number of Heritage Manufacturing revolvers on the way. Pictures of various models are on our website. Price new is $249.

It is one of the must have gun. I got a Stainless steel one in 6.5in barrel. The trigger is a bit heavy but very very accurate, and it shoot all kinds of .22, short, long, LR and 22Mag. Stainless steel looks shiny...

I have a convertible cylinder one with 4 3/4 or so Gunfighter length barrel. Despite being an automatic guy, I love the gun and simplicity of it. My wife has claimed it as 'her gun' as she likes 'cowboy guns' like the ones her dad used to sell in a sports shop.
