Ruger single shot fetish.

I love the Ruger #1. Right now I have two of them. One is #1V in .22-250 that I've bedded the foreend to the hanger and had a forend tension screw installed. It is very accurate and has been my primary hog hammer. I've also used it in some precision rifle competition.

The other one is a #1B in .270 Winchester. After adding a little more forend pressure it's actually more accurate than any bolt gun I've owned and my handload is nothing more complicated than a max load of IMR-4350 with a 130grain Remington Core-Lokt. As a bonus that 26" barrel is getting them up to 3200 fps.

As for more #1s I'd still like to get a big bore. Most likely I'd like a .375 H&H like the one Riflechair is selling but a .45-70 or some other flavour of big bore would be fun. Other than that a Hornet could be fun too but since I already use my two current #1s for varminting and I have a .222 I'm not sure what I'd do with the Hornet but coolness is a perfectly good reason to acquire a gun.

Single shots

one Ruger#1 in .223. Ron Smith put a gain-twist barrel on, gophers don't like it! one Ruger#3 in 30-40-Krag, the only one I've ever seen in that calibre. Taking it moose hunting tomorrow.:dancingbanana:

I had Ruger No.1's in 7mm RM and .375 H&H. I also had a Browning B78 in 6mm Rem.

I too like single shots. It's too bad that the new 1885's come in only WSMs.

Here are some bad pictures of some of mine. There are a few not included plus the handguns, cannons and some antique and BP stuff. I apologize for the poor pictures, I will do better when time allows.

Only one that I want is a #1 in 458 Lott, you can always load down. :D Firgure I put a mercury recoil reducer in it and it would be flat enjoyable to shoot. Other than that I have 99's. Les

Ruger #1 Rifles...

Never owned a Ruger #1 [yet]... But there's still time....:D I'd like to have a couple... one in 7x57mm Mauser and another in .45-70 Govt.

And too bad they didn't offer 'em in 6.5x55mm Swede Mauser 'cause I'd pine for one of them, too...
