Ruger Single Six - Is this normal?

So I noticed this while cleaning. This is the first time I've used the 22LR cylinder in my stainless single six. It looks as though the front edge of the cylinder is eroding or something. Looks similar to a harsh scuff/scrape in the metal, but it's on the edge between each flute. Showed up after shooting. The 22WMR cylinder shows no evidence of this. This gun was purchased brand new.

Is this normal wear for a revolver like this? I ask because I have no idea. It's not too bad, but I don't seem to remeber my blued single six doing that.

That looks like what my Pietta SAA got after shooting cast bullets. I googled it, and it sounded like it was lead/lube vapour deflecting off the top strap and depositing on the cylinder edge. That made sense to me, and I was able to remove much of it.

Perhaps the size of the cylinder gap might control how much it happens.

That could very well be. I basically was just running a bore snake through when I noticed it, didn't scrub. When i looked closer after this post I did think it looked a bit like lead. I'll have to give it a good scrub and see if that's it. Thanks for the tip!

lead and powder ,22s are dirty , mine is always like that.

This is just powder residue build-up from firing - common on all revolvers. It is not as apparent on a blued revolver because of the revolver's dark coloring but it is there just the same. On SS it shows up readily. It is not wear. Removes easily with a very light rubbing with Flitz or other mild cream.
