ruger sr 1911

Love them enough that I have two of them! Now the sell to the wife was " You know you need one for each hand?" SHE SAID YES......
Now one of them has just over 500 rounds and is awesome to shoot, the other for the left hand still has some learning to do.

Good luck and enjoy.

I have a government model. Apart from the magazines which gave up the ghost after about 500 rounds each the gun is fantastic. I can shoot it better than everything but my Pardini which is a very expensive target gun. I use 230gr round nose, lead or copper jacketted, no FTF, FTE, stovepipes etc. I have Remington, Knighthawk, Wilson mags. All work great. I find it starts to gum up the slide after about 250-300 rounds. Not so much that it stops working just sort of slows the slide a bit. Give it a clean and away you go. I paid $700 for mine. Damn good deal, one of my favourite guns.

I've had one a few years now and it's on the no sell list.

The front sight came off a while back, but it's been good ever since.

I'd buy the commander if our dollar hadn't spiked the prices so much

i didn't hear to much bad about them, Thats why i went ahead and ordered it. the stainless steel with the wood grips looks awesome too. price wasn't to bad. 950 after taxes and shipping.

Bought mine like new and unfired on consignment for $500. It is on my no sell list, especially since it works so well with the Kimber 22LR conversion. I could shoot it better than my CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow.

I keep forgetting to ask someone about the kimber conversion. I may have to get one now.

There were some fitment (QC) issues with some of them a while back and as mentioned, the MIM front sight seemed to break off on that "run" of guns. It was a kind of mixed bag of complaints at the time, some got great guns, some got what they described as rattle traps. Ruger was way behind on orders at that time (2014?) and the thought was that they were pushing guns out and speeding up production at the cost of quality control (all speculation of course). I believe they have sorted things out now and would give my left ear for a Commander SR1911! I'm envious, let us know how she shoots!

well i have to wait a i little bit for my gun. i paid for express post but i don't think it was sent express post. shipped out in the 16th and the tracking number is saying it will be delivered on the 23rd. oh well, at least i know it's on it's way.

I picked up a SR1911 in June, brand new for $665. Great gun for a great price.

Really wish I could get some affordable 45acp ammo though.

That's pretty much what they retailed for initially, and really what they are worth.
I saw one on a sponsor site for $1150 tonight.....almost puked lol
