ruger sr 1911

Yep, them Ruger SR1911's are a nice piece, "but they sure ain't no Norinco"!

Think we're gonna to hear a phrase like this, more and more, as American QC goes down, while the Norinco's goes up.:stirthepot2:

I agree, the Norinco 1911 is IMO a better deal than the ruger. While not as pretty, the Norc is a well built pistol. Also you can buy 2 for the price on a sr1911.

If I was buying a budget 1911 the Norinco (Armco) would be my first stop. The only reason I can see to buy a ruger right now, is as an investment. Apparently you can buy them and use them, then sell them on the EE for more than a new one from a CGN sponsor. I should buy 10 and sell them on the EE for a premium ... Then buy a colt :) with my tidy return on investment.

Mine is perhaps one of the earlier runs and has just a little play in the slide - but nothing concerning. As far as accuracy - I think it is one of my more accurate. Shoots great everytime.

Ruger Sr1911's have dropped a bit in price as they have become more available.I know Canada Ammo has/had a pretty sweet deal on the gun with ammo package...It's good Norinco can sell into Canada to help off-set the ridiculous premium we have to pay for the more popular U.S brands up here...

Bought mine from Wolverine, shipped for less than at a local gun store. Seems like a beaut, just need time to get to the range.

I thought $850 + shipping was the going rate for a [used] one.... :p  :ninja:

NAA.

Ya no kidding. I saw the one for $850 and one for $775 another for $750 and another for $725. I wonder how much the guy payed for the $850 gun if that's what he thinks it's worth used?

Tell that to STI. This is exactly why the STI Spartan is still the best 1911 under $1000. The Ruger does look better though.

Isn't the Spartan made overseas? Don't STIs only come with 1 mag?

I have a Ruger SR1911 waiting for approval. Decided to get it after shooting a friends - An American made Stainless 1911 with 2 mags under $700??? I have shot STI Trojan, Ranger 2, SIGs, Norcs, Remington R1 Enhanced, Colt GC NM, and the SR1911 - they all shoot very accurately as with most 1911s. Just boils down to what you want to pay for.

I just bought one a month ago and I just checked it for all the maladies proclaimed here. My trigger is loose and causes some rattle and the grip safety has a lot of play in it and causes some rattle, neither of which bothers me in the slightest. The slide frame fit is excellent as is the barrel-bushing fit. If the play in the grip safety bothered me I'm sure an oversize pin would take care of it, but overall I'm very happy with the pistol, especially for the price. Haven't really done any accuracy shooting, just some plinking and it seems to shoot to POA pretty good and I can jump pop cans all over out to 35 yds or so with hits 90% of the time and any misses I suspect are not the fault of the pistol or ammo. This is the only one I've seen and it was an impulse buy at the LGS, I was very impressed with the fit, finish and appearance overall in this particular gun, can't say for the rest but it sounds like some are not as well put together as the one I purchased. I have emptied both magazines, several times, as fast as I can squeeze them off and the function is flawless with American Eagle ammo. This is the only testing I've done so far and I have to say no gremlins have surfaced to this point. I would recommend this pistol to others as long as you had the ability to handle it first and make sure it was made on a good day.
