Ruger SR-22 or modify standard 10/22 with Archangel stock

Hi all I'm really wanting an SR-22 but no one has it in stock so I'm thinking about just buying a 10/22 and modding it with a ProMag Archangel or Nomad stock. Are there any drawbacks to this? Should I just hold out for the SR-22? I guess I'm concerned that maybe an aftermarket stock won't feel "right" compared to OEM Ruger. Also, is there anything the SR-22 has over a standard 10/22?
 
There are so many options for the 10/22, so why limit yourself to one frame? I have a Marauder stock on mine now and I love it. If I ever grow tired of it, I can sell it and try something else.
 
I believe the sr22 has a better barrel than your standard 10/22, not sure what else is different other than the stock.
I have a 10/22 with the .556 stock. I payed 240$ for the gun, 190$ for the stock, and another 220$ for the optic. I think the nomad has sights on it, but the .556 you will have to buy some optics. I'm into mine for 650$ + tax. I'm not sure if the sr22 has any sights, if it dose you may be better off just getting that.
 
The SR has a heavier Bbl.and should therefore be a bit more accurate than the Std.10/22 in a comp/plastic AR stock.
If you're just after the AR look,go with the replacement stock.

I had my SR-22 done up to the tits and I still got tired of it... Front heavy with a dlask and If you want AR ergos they are better and lighter options.

This is what mine looked like. Dont regret selling it. I wanted something that was exactly like my AR. But once I got it there I didn't like it...

SR22 is a fun, accurate rifle except for that lawyer approved POS trigger, way too heavy. Changed mine to a Volquartsen trigger group (pop the whole trigger box out, pop in VQ), so nice for rapid fire with BC 25 rnd mags.

You rear BUIS is backwards on the SR-22! :D (Yes I realize you sold the gun).

I too have the SR-22 and done up, almost to the tits. I do want a shorter barrel as it is quite front heavy. But because of that when I am shooting while standing the weight of the gun just absorbs any "kick" (lol, kick on a .22, but you know what I mean, jump) and I just hit my targets one after another at longer ranges. Nothing like hearing "TING, TING, TING, TING, TING, TING!" on a 100m steel plate.

I also have the Marauder (no, not the nomad) stock, but I just took it off my 10/22 as I wanted it for a short easily portable firearm, but with our stupid laws it needs the stock barrel to have folding stock or pinned stock to use shorter barrel... Still trying to decide what I want to do with the stock.

I bought an Archangel kit for mine and hated it so much I sold the whole gun two weeks later when I found a Remington 597 VRT. The Archangel feels really cheap and cheesy. If buy another ruger it will be the SR22. That or put a Troy industries stock kit for a 10-22. The archangel is just too cheap feeling, especially for $200+.

They sell a kit with everything for $264.99. A 10/22 can be had new for $239. Thats $504. the sr22 sells for $550+ everyplace I have seen it.
