this is my SR-22 there are many like it but this one is mine.
So i bought it went and shot it that day from the hip... just to try er out and the 25 round BC magazine i bought with it. fired flawlessly but the thread protector came loose as did the screws for the picatiny rail and the 2 allan screws that hold the foregrip on. so after getting home i begin disassembly and couldnt get the chasis apart without taking off the picatiny.
upon closer inspection i saw where the metal was binding and did a little dremmel magic to it.
next i took apart the trigger group and modified the factory bolt hold open to the auto. i removed the barrel support block and tapped out the nut inside it threw the block in the trash parts bin and reinstalled the sling swivel stud using just the nut and stud (also cut the bolt down about 1/4-3/8 of an inch and blacked the cut with sharpie marker)
then i blue locktited every screw including the barrel v block screws
reassembled and installed a sling stud mounted bipod.
now against my better judgement but listening to the little voice in my head i bought a promag 50 round drum. took it home and knowing that people have said they suck i took a real close look at it. put it in and with 1 dead round cycled the bolt. it hung up ... bad. i looked at it and there was a metal burr in the feed ramp and the bullet was slightly mangled also notice heavy scraping along the top of the feed lips.
quickly realized it was the bolt hitting along the feed lips. got my file and dremmel and went to work cleaned up the feed ramp smooth and burr free i moved on to the feed lips taking a little off the top where i could see the metal on metal markings.
after filing it loading it trying it a few times i had it where the bolt would consistently slide closed. then i noticed if i put a bit of pressure on the magazine the lips would catch again so i fine tuned it a bit more. now it cycles reliably and feeds my dummy round (an empty never fired cci blazer) reliably every time. this is the same ammo i plan to use with it. so i am hoping to get to test fire it soon. there is no question if i had tried it without doing what i had to it i would have returned it cursing the damn thing. for the amount of money i spent i shouldn't have had to do a damn thing to it... oh well i like knowing how things work anyways. so i will put up a range report on it as soon as i get a chance to go out... maybe this afternoon. also have not done any sighting in of the SR-22 so i will hope that the 50 rounder feeds reliably.. if not i have my 25 round BC that hasn't failed yet with 200 rounds through it.
other mods i may do to my SR-22 is add the toprail to the foregrip and get some flip up buis.it's starting to get heavy so i wont be adding quad rail or all that other stuff. would like a flash suppressor.
