Hi all was looking for a .22 rifle to sport shoot and help hone skills for my service rifle....Any thoughts? Does anyone know where i can get one and how much? Pro's and Con's???

Thanks:cool:

The list of pros to the SR 22 is a mile long. The same action as the 10/22 which has been the benchmark for rim fire semi autos in the firearms industry for 40 years. I have NEVER EVER heard anyone say a negative thing about the SR 22 or the 10/22 with the exception that it tends to be double the cost of a regular 10/22.

Buy the SR 22 buddy, you will love it and you can accessorize it until your heart is content!

Also, unlike many .22s on the market this thing does not look like a pellet gun, it is downright mean looking. If you are protecting your home or property from criminals walking on your porch with an SR 22 is much more intimidating than coming out with a henry lever action or even a regular 10/22.

good luck... enjoy

PS - call up your local Ruger dealer and have them bring it in for you. Most good gun stores will be able to get it in as long as they deal with Ruger products

PSS - thank you for your service to our country

Hey thanks alot....where do you go to shoot around here....just getting into shooting outside of work and not sure of where to go or where is best.....also what type of scope would you recommend?? Going to florida soon will more than likely pick one up at ####'s sporting goods while i'm there?

Go for the standard 10/22! It's much lighter, doesn't look silly (no dress up kit), and is far easier to carry through the bush. A coworker bought an SR22- he got a pretty hard ribbing when he brought it to work. It's just a dress up kit for the video game generation that does absolutely nothing a real 10/22 doesn't- except weigh more!

Just be careful taking a scope out of the US, unless you get the proper permits from the US State Dept. They dont like having them leave the country with out their knowledge or prior permission.
