Ruger SR-556 Gas Piston/Op-Rod AR-15 Carbine/Rifle

Ruger's attitude is that civies should just have bolt action rilfes. This mentality goes way back when they introduced the AC 556. They would only sell it to military or law enforcement. They refused to sell them to Class 3 dealers or licensed Class 3 collectors.

bill ruger is dead... the company has changed directions, of note are the canadian legal 4.2" (106mm) GP100 revolvers they are now selling to canadians and of course the new CCW handguns they sell in the USA, and now an evil black rifle....

get over it.

I'm just stating a fact. I don't give a ####, to tell you the honest truth.

Way to add to the conversation, why even bother with such a useless comment?? Trying to keep the post count up??

You gotta admit, though, Armedsask is no-BS and concise, too...;)

In the meantime, I remember many here dismissing the rifle (mainly due to price, partially due to Ruger itself) when I posted the Gunblast review...:yingyang:

In the end, IMHO the 10/22 proves that if a product is good enough, the parent company will play far less of a role in its acquisition! :)

The company had changed direction. they are even selling 20 round mag for mini these days.

Holding grudge to a dead man is useless, and is not promoting anything. Owership of corporation changes, and evolves over time.

I have already checked with the Canadian Ruger importers and this rifle is not allowed to be exported to Canada...end of story. Phil.

What if they changed the name to Ruger SR-223? Specifically for the Canadian Market.
The market isn't big enough. I was talking to a Remington rep. at shot show a couple of years ago and he stated that the Canadian market is equivalent to a small state like R.I. In the big picture it's not really worth it.

But if they are now making GP100's with 4.2inch (106mm) barrels I am sure just changing the packaging and labeling it a Ruger SR223 isn't out of the question. If making the 106mm GP100's was worthwhile I am sure making the SR223 is worthwhile as well.
