Ruger SR-556TD availability

Piston is for full auto, maritime ops and suppressed use.

ARs in Canada are range queens. DI is fine overall, more so for gun range use. At twice the price of DI, piston ARs in Canada are collector items.
 
When we have to start justifying our purchases, we've lost our freedom. The man wants a Ruger SR-556TD, ain't no other info required other than where and how much. :)

I was just answering his question about our affair with piston ARs as Canadians.

Not so sure about caliber x-change rifles. they usually don't hold zero and I am the "change the whole upper with zeroed sight" guy.

Here I sound like a catalog commando. But what else can we do with ARs in Canada? Clear the house from time to time while wifey is shopping or go show off at the range in front of other catalog commandos with ARs.

-Oh look. I got a takedown AR!
- What's that dude?
- I can remove the barrel for ease of transportation.
- Don't you have to transport it in a locked case in you car directly to the range taking the shortest route?
- Yea...But I can change the barrel to 300 ACC...
- isn't that a 7.62x39 wonna be for supressed use and it costs like 308?
- Yea..But it retains more energy past 200m.
- We are at 100m range dude.
- Whatever. I do what I want.

I don't know if you are implying that ratio is less or more. It's debatable anyways and was just IMO.

But in general piston ARs are more expensive than DI ARs. Last time I checked, NEA DI uppers are $800 and PWS piston uppers are $1,800.

Let's not talk about Colt Canada pricing. they must be unionized :).

If we're comparing apples to apples. A Ruger AR556 goes for about $1K, a Ruger SR556 in the link I posted goes for a little over 1200 bucks. They're definitely more expensive, but it's not doubling the cost. I personally like the idea of the piston system. It runs cleaner and it's unique to most of the other AR's you'll come across.

There's an easy explanation for the cost of Colt Canada rifles though. They're made of adamantium from Wolverine's prototype skeleton, hand assembled by Sasquatch, and then put through their paces by Deadpool before being crated and sent off to us.
