We just don't have enough M&P here in Canada to show the problems

There are hundreds if not thousands of m&p's in Canada and we are having no issues. There are 100's of thousands in the states with some problems reported. No manufacturer is perfect. there was just a thread about a kimber being a PITA. I disadled my M&P mag safety in about 10 minutes - its easy.
I bought my M&P in the fall of 08 and have fired 2000 plus rounds with no failures at all due to the gun. I had a couple of Fail to feed from MY bad ammo. thats it. They are a good pistol and S&W has good warrenty in Canada.
I've seen glocks with mag issues, norincos with mag issues, 1911's with mag issues but everyone seems to pick on the M&P. You always hear about the problems but never from the thousands of happy owners.
For the price the M&P is hard to beat - try one out.
I have no experiance with the SR9 but ruger is a great company with good customer support and quality products.

What i am trying to say is NO gun is perfect and both S&W and ruger make good guns and stand behind them so buying either should be safe.

I understand that the warranty will cover the issues but it makes me think twice about the quality control that goes on at the factory. Are guns not test fired at all. The 2 that I saw drop mags were brand new purchases in december, and both had to be sent back. Both times it was guys I new from the club, and I was there and they were so excited to have there new guns. Asked me to come out and shoot with them and bang bang..... dropped mag. At first everyone thinks its them but both times it was the gun. If that was me I would be livid, and I am not gonna take the chance. I will not be buying any smith and wesson products in the near future.

P.S. I owned he SR9 and was fully set on buying the M&P. I do like the way it feels and guys use em at my club regularily but after seeing the issues I saw, and reading about others having the same issues I bought a glock. I have no regrets.

The HK P30 has the smallest grip I have handled but at $1300 she had better be one hell of a wife.:p
Between the Ruger and the M&P I vote M&P. I shot a guys Ruger at the club and I didn't like the grip or the trigger.

:agree: If price is not an issue I would definately look at a P30L. I bought one for the wife last year and she loves it. I have also been known to borrow it once in while for IDPA matches.

Of the two choices you mentioned and if price is more of a concern, definately go with the M&P over the Ruger.

Replace the grips with the thin aluminum grips from Ghost Products or CRAFM. Besides, the CZ is a real gun made of steel, not plastic :p.

I recommend the S+W 40, Its an awesome gun, i own the S+W M+P9, and i have used the 40 as well, they are both smooth, awesome guns, and having the three grips with the gun, makes it very user friendly

I have an SR9, XD9, SIG 2022, and G17. The SR9 is a small comfortable to handle firearm. The trigger mechanism can be polished to create a nicer pull, but the pull still feels like my SIG 2022 in DA. The SR9 trigger is a very positive trigger with no slack. Be aware there are not too many aftermarket parts for the SR9. You should take her out and handle a few more different guns. I have smaller mitts, I use my SIG 2022 for competitions,it is an awesome gun for smaller hands.

Agreed to M&P over the Ruger (from my experience...and I still have the M&P9)...but my wife would have neither. I ended up getting her an HK P2000. She found that one fit her the best (and believe me we tried alot of different handguns).
