Hi all,

Just bought a Ruger SR1911, I also have a Norinco Government one. What I realized is that the Ruger is heavier (don't have the exact weights but feels much heavier than Norinco). Otherwise they are essentially identical parts-wise with some embellishments on the Ruger.

When I shot the two I also realized that the ruger has a much higher muzzle rise and jumps all over the place comparing to the Norinco, even though it's heavier...Can some one please offer an explaination?

The heavier spring resists the recoil more forcefully from an earlier point in the cycle, that means a longer, sustained push being transferred back to the user, but less frame battering at the end of the cycle.

hmm that makes sense. Longer push time translates to more energy delivered to my hands. Highschool Physics coming to good use! =D

Thanks for the explanation! Now I can sleep at night =)
