Ruger SR1911 slide lock failure?

Once and a while when my Ruger gets dirty(over 500 rounds) it fails to lock the slide up on the last round. The gun is stock and less then a year old. I'm using the factory 8 round mags and a couple Sig 8 round mags and factory Norinco 230 grain ball ammo. Any solutions besides cleaning more often?
BTW how often do you guys clean your 1911's? Thanks

I had the same thing happen on mine a few times and it seemed to be due to my hand loads being a much lighter load and the guns spring being such a stiff spring.

As for cleaning, with the powder I use and the lighter loads, it gets dirty fast, so I clean both of mine after 200-300 rounds.

1911 don't like to be run dry and dirty so maintaining them is a key for correct and proper functioning. So, make sure to lube well and try to clean after every range visit and see if that helps Thats why polymer is the new wave of the future! LOL. Cheers.

clean and lube. if you want a fire and forget pistol, purchase a glock or other striker fired plastic fantastic.
