Ruger sr22

From what I understand there is a HIGH demand for firearms right now in the USA... ppl are scared there of a serious economic meltdown, or a sudden illegalization of firearms. I asked a guy in a big box store if they had any Ruger 10/22s in stock, he laughed and said no and when they get them in its just a few and they are gone in a day. I asked him why and he told me Ruger has its hands full selling firearms in the USA, they cant keep them on the shelves there and that market is their first priority. Something like the Ruger SR 22 is a cheap alternative to an AR15 so I imagine those fly off the shelf in the USA.
 
Just ordered the collapsible stock version from Grouse River. They also have the fixed stock version available.

Sterno......did the same thing. Ive now started emailing retailers when I see the SR-22 on their websites. Ive recieved about 4-5 replies and all persons say that they DO NOT have stock. Oh well.

Anyways, Im now starting to look at a less costly alternative to the ruger. I already own a basic 597 and love the gun so Im thinking about getting a new heavy barrel 597 and dropping it into one of the archangel stocks. Ive read good reviews on the archangel, but does anyone here know if its "adaptable" like the sr22? Am I able to swap the pistol grip, butt stock, forend or are these all fixed together? Thanks

You say you don't want to buy online, yet you are contacting online dealers... Are you planning to drive to all of them or expect them to send it to you so you can inspect it first??

I bought my SR22 used on EE. It is pretty hard to ef one up, and if that does happen, it is pretty easy (and inexpensive) to un-ef it.

Maybe just look until you find a used one locally.

Check their feedback score before buying it then. Contact the seller directly by phone. Ask for lots of pictures. Smart phones can take and send pics while your online with them. Ive bought a few firearms online and all have always come in good order and as described.

Or you can sit on your butt and wait and drool looking at advetisements.

I've purchased a ton of stuff (mostly parts) off the EE section of this site - first item was an SR22 as a matter of fact, as I could not find one in stores - and I have had everything proceed flawlessy. Gunfolk are straight-dealers; take the chance, I say. It's hard to eff up a Ruger, and someone firing a few hundred rounds before you get just breaks it in nicely for you :)
