Ruger SR22p now in Canada!

There's always room for jello.......buy two :) :0 :) The little barrel stub is a bit goofy but short of completely redesigning the slide for our teeny Canadian market it is the only way we would see them in Canada. Not to different that a number of pistols out there with the threaded barrel adapter for the armchair commandos among us. Going to the range tonight to try the new Grand power and compare the two.

Cheers...

Yup, looking real bad with my 22 pistol, right up there with the terminator I'm sure :) I should get a pogo stick just to round out the look!

Shot the Grand power last night. It's Accurate, probably slightly more so than the Ruger but it has a longer barrel and it's heavier so I guess that could be expected. Felt good in the hand and less recoil than the small light SR, not that either have much recoil. A few feeding issues with the mags but should wear in pretty quick I hope. If you rest the grip on the bench to sight it in there is enough play in the mag to allow it to push up and cause the slide to jam. I will machine a small spacer for each mag to eliminate that issue. Pretty happy with both guns so far.

I shot a buds M&P 22 as well and really liked it as well but he said it was a bit more ammo picky. It was new so that may go away too.

I picked one up at calgary shooting center. Shooting fairly rapidly I put 100+ rounds into a 4 inch circle at 10 yards with 3 or 4 rounds out into a 6 inch circle. Most accurate 22 pistol I have shot. The hammer taps my hand once and a while, but not bad. Barrel comes with thread adapter to 1/2 x 28 thread so there are tons of muzzle accessories that will fit.. I really like it and I'm gladi didn't get the 22 45 I actually went there to buy.

Yeah I absolutely my 22/45!! My son also prefers it over my all steel Mk2. I love the mods available for the 22/45 and it eats everything. :)

As far as grip sizes go, is it as small as a first gen walther p22 ? Fired a P22 and found it too small. Like a kid's gun. Is it the same with the ruger ? Looking to ditch my mark3 for this.

Yeah, handled one at the range today.
A generous club member let us shoot it.
Well built and 100% reliable.

But.....I can't stand Pinocchio pistols.

Cant profess there be the pistol expert. The sr is like the the 10 -22 there are more accurate guns no doubt. But more fun guns I doubt it. Yes it has a bothersom nose but so do I. It is small but fits my hand as well as my 10 year olds. There were many on the market that did not. I really liked the smith m&p 22 but hate single only in 22. Would I buy this in a 9 or 45 probably not but that is not the intent. I also bought a grand power k22a that feels amazing in my hands and arguably more accurate but is more ammo picky.

So far overall as a plinker 22 I could not be happier. If you intend to compete this may not be your gun. If you want to plink and not worry about what ammo is available tomorrow I say winner winner chicken dinner.

When I was buying my first .22 I wanted one of these bad but were prohib, so went with a mark iii and love it but I think I'll be adding one of these to the safe !!!!
