Always wanted a piston AR and it finally happened :) After couple of upgrades - Lantac brake, UBR stock, magpul AFG and pistol grip, Flask rail at the bottom and Ruger rail pieces on the sides, magpul sling, Aimpoint H1 and magpul backup sights, spike tactical heavy buffer, G2S trigger.
Runs at gas piston setting 1. Eats everything - Barnaul, PMC etc.

The most accurate AR i've ever had with 1:9 twist and 55r ammo. After 300 rounds BCG is very clean and piston system very easy to clean.

Very nice. Ruger has a great reputation. I own a few of their hand guns and just bought my first rifle from them last week. A SR22. Can't wait to shoot it.

I replaced the original stock with CAA and it is slight heavier. This helped to balance it out.

I like the fact that there's hardly anything to clean after a shoot.
 
It looks great! Out of curiosity, how much of the SR556 is left and what was the final cost for it all?
 
That's the reason I've installed it. It does make the overall weight heavier, but it balanced perfectly now. There is hardly any recoil with this setup, but it barks a lot :)

Wanted: SR556 upper receiver and bolt carrier group. After just 29 rounds you can guess what happened. Ruger will not sell me the individual factory controlled parts. If the price is right, I will buy the whole firearm. Thank you.

Actually, for the life of me I can't guess what happened, that gun is built like a tank - please explain?
 
I was thinking the same thing. What happened? And why would Ruger refuse to sell parts? Call the distributor or the warranty center in Canada not Ruger in the U.S. directly.
 
An overcharged factory load cracked the upper receiver into three pieces and broke the bolt carrier into two pieces. The bolt itself looks like it is undamaged. The rest of the firearm is undamaged including the lower. The exploded cartridge bent all four of the remaining 223 and blew out the bottom of the magazine metal and mag spring. The rifle was a FB series and the most expensive of the SR556. Only the parts made out of cast were damaged. I won't be happy until it is fixed. Parts to match from Brownells would cost me over $1300 so I will look for other options.

We have an old range gun upper assembly here. Piston system is N/S, but upper receiver and bolt carrier assembly are solid. Some minor parts missing (extractor, ejection port cover, charging handle), contact orders@theshootingcentre.com and we can get you a very good price on it.

Go through their warranty support. You will be directed to a repair center in Canada.
