Ruger SR556 or Nork AR?

What I did is get the Norinco, which is fine quality out of the box, and use the money you saved to make the upgrades you want to make it perfect for YOU. People need to get over the hang-up that it says Norinco on the side. They shoot great and your d*ck won't fall off, contrary to what some will lead you to believe. Ask Hungry and the M14 folks. You can pay more for a different AR but will you have the trigger you want or the optics you like or the stock you prefer? Cost wise at the end if the day I ended up paying as much as a Ruger or a Colt but I got a rifle configured exactly the way I want with a little left over for ammo and mags.

What I did is just bought a Noveske, and it is exactly how I want it right out of the box. :)

While the Ruger "looked" better than the Norc, I have to admit the Norc open sights were better than the Troy flip downs on the 556. When I say better, I mean easier to acquire/see through. I especially liked the close/ long range options with the Norc open sights. Uh oh, I am leaning back towards a Norc? The chap at the Norc shop did give me a rock solid warranty assurance. And I've just realized that the 556 hand guard requires roll pins to be punched out to remove handguard. That is a it annoying as I do like to fully disassemble firearms. And the Norc comes threaded for a suppressor or über cool muzzle break.

I know where theres an Sr556 in a shop, brand new. Its the 16" comes with A cat mag, manual, action lock, in a box, no bag or iron sights, $2190. North island. They are out of the VT varient.

I have shot a few different AR platforms this summer, and I found "one is just as accurate as the other" I purchased the Nork not really expecting it to run 100% smoothly...but it does ! Zero problems all summer. I'm impressed and surprised. Cheap gun works good.

Pm me dude. Just remember that it doesnt have the open sights with it. They are retailing elsewhere for about 2500 i think.

Where exactly did you get a look at a norinco AR15? The norinco ones arnt a bad score if you can find one. The chinese ones over here are predominantly CJA. The finish is rough to the extent that black stuff rubs/flakes off on your hands when you handle them. I cant see why they wouldnt function well though.
You could always strip the upper and lower and get them re-anodised to give it a better finish. I was looking at getting an NEA re anodised and it was going to cost me about $100 but they arnt made out of the right alloy and there was/could be issues with the whole process.

You shouldnt have to do that to a rifle, especially new. If your going to do that you might as well spend the extra money and get a quality rifle lol. Seems like a waste of time and money.

Sorry, i meant norinco stamped. Not the current run of cja stamped guns we have on the market now. I think they are the same thing at the end of the day but my recollection of the norinco stamped guns was that the finish was a grade above what they are now. Theres probably nothing in it if you are looking at function alone. You dont see many norincos around the ranges nowdays.

Absolutely agree but i wanted to change the reciever colour to something other than black, or grey as was the case here. That and they were the only maker that had anything remotely close to the configuration i was after at the time.
