The Ruger SR-556 offers Ruger’s legendary rugged reliability while redefining the AR platform with piston driven performance. SR-556 rifles come feature-packed and pre-accessorized, and include the following:

** Chrome-plated, two-stage piston driven operating system provides improved reliability over gas driven rifles

** 4-position, chrome-plated gas regulator allows operator to tune rifle to specific ammunition or rifle conditions

** Chambered in the popular 5.56mm NATO/.223 Rem., the SR-556 comes with 3 MAGPUL PMAG 30-round magazines

** Chrome-plated bolt, bolt carrier and extractor aid in performance and durability

** Cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined Mil-Spec 41V45 barrel provides long-lasting accuracy

** Troy Industries Folding BattleSights are adjustable and co-witness with Mil-Spec optics so they can be easily removed to make room for high-power scopes

** Troy Industries Quad Rail Handguard provides rigid mount for piston driven transfer rod

** Troy Industries Rail Covers provide comfortable hold for unused Picatinny rails

** 6-Position Telescoping M4-Style Buttstock is collapsible and allows the length of pull to be adjusted from 10.25” to 13.50”

** Hogue® Monogrip® Pistol Grip with finger grooves provides comfort when carrying and shooting

** Soft-sided carry case

Looks like a nice setup...wonder if any will make their way north of the 49th...
Probably be pricey by then...

Questar?

I shot one last month when I was in the US.

Nice gun, ( Im a Ruger fan )

I would love to add one to my collection.

Hey, lucky you. How was the accuracy? What is the Ruger trigger like on this gun? Anything else that caught your eye while handling/shooting it? Would love to hear more, being a Ruger fan as well.

it was open sights at 50 yrds and the group was ok ish. I would of like to have a scope and bench it out a few hundred yards.

The finish is nice and their choice of rails and sights are great for an out of the box gun. Trigger is good but there's room for some tweeking. I did not like the pistol grip. I would swap out for a Magpul.

I wish I had some time to tear it apart abit more.

If we do get them up here they will easily get up to $2200.

maybe if the $ goes up more we can see a deal.

I would like to see the Para rifle first before I import one.

There is something here I just don’t get! Why do we absolutely demand that a new AR type rifle bring something “new” in order to make it worthwhile? I mean, what if anything, significantly new over the original Colt AR-15A2 & A4 does an Armalite bring? Or for that matter a Bushmaster, Remington, RRA, Stag (other than the left hand receivers), Imperial Defense, Norinco, S&W, Sabre Defense, Noveske, LMT or any other I might be missing at this moment? All of those are being imported into Canada at this point in time, so why shouldn’t we bring the new Ruger, too? I mean, I know many people couldn’t care less about Rugers, but I’m sure way many others would love to get one. I’m sure not many people care much for LMT AR’s either, especially after learning how much they go for here, but they are still being imported, aren’t they?

I believe this Ruger AR would bring us a different choice, one which would interest many people, if it is ever priced right. I would for sure buy one, if I had the choice between two models, one with direct gas impingement and the Ruger with a Piston. That is assuming similar pricing, or course. So just saying a gun should not be imported because we already have many similar models here, would be like saying “Why import a Ford Pick-up when we already have Toyota, Chevy, Dodge and others selling pick-ups here?” I think it’s a very stupid argument.

The way I see it, the more guns we bring in, the better, and I couldn't care less if they were all the same model, just bring in as many as we can. But hey, that is just my opinion, and you know how that goes…

The problem doesn't lie with the importers it lies with the US DOS. They won't allow its export cause it has a collapsible stock, flash hider and is in 5.56x45 caliber all prohibited for export by the US DOS. If it were with a non collaspible stock, a muzzle break and named the SR223 it would be exportable. End of story.

But of course we all know that, but that was not my point. My point was that there are people who seem to think we should not bring it in, just because there are others like it already here. And that's the point I was commenting on.

they could leave it named the sr556 but would need to stamp the bbl with .223 instead of or and 5.56. the collapsable stock can be remedied with a souple roll pins to lock it in place. and change the name to muzzlebreak instead of flash hider. no word that im aware of that ruger will be making a canadian version of the rifle.

One would think that "the biggest gun maker in the world" (Ruger) could tack weld a compensator on the barrel and put a full stock on it and Voila! Importable to Kanada. Oh, and they could have them all chambered in "223" (versus 5.56) for the markets other than the USA.

Otherwise, an "independent" can do this (with deep pockets)and can bring small lots in:redface:

There is a full page ad in this months Wester Sportsman magazine. Why would Ruger pay for this kind of advertising if it can't be exported to Canada?
