Ruger sr9 ?????

Decent gun for a decent price. If you don't expect it to be quite as nice as a gun that costs twice as much, you'll probably be quite happy.

Only real problem is a gritty trigger at first. It smooths out though and there are replacements available if you can't bear it.

Also, if you have large-ish hands, you may find the grip a little small. I don't, so I am quite happy with mine, all the controls are accessible with my thumb without adjusting my grip.

I agree new trigger is gritty and you can hear the spring grinding inside but the pull is lighter and breaks better than new new Glock 34 I had. I like the Ruger for the price point but my biggest beef is the excess safeties on a striker fire, especially the stupid ambi thumb safety that catches my fingers when I rack the slide.

This was my beef as well... I had one but eventually sold it. Spend a little more money on the M&P. It's a better gun all around

I prefer it over the M&P, i found once the trigger smoothed out it just fit better. Still have both though....you won't go wrong with either. If you have smaller hands (like me) SR9 is a great feeling gun.

Great gun! Liked the first one so much I bought 2 more. Each year I try and take as many people as I can to the range trying to get them interested in the sport. Unbelievably its a favorite of new shooters over my Glocks and CZ's.

the only thing I don't like about mine is that the slide/frame interface is sloppy. Just not tight and smooth.

The trigger grit etc can be easily fixed, but this can't really.

I love mine, great gun for the price I paid $479 last month for the brushed stainless model. I've seen the blued for $469 hard to beat those prices.

Had mine for 6 months, love it, no problems. The slide is harder to rack than my m9 a1 and m&p. Cut my hands a couple of times slipping off slide. No big deal, I know it will go bang, bang ,bang, ever time. NO FAILURES AFTER 600 RDS, 1 AMMO ISSUE WITH BAD PRIMER. Get one.

its more of a melonite like finish on the black one, not really traditional bluing, I quite like it. Kewal, you can get different springs for it, and if you use target ammo, you will want a weaker one anyways. That makes it easier to rack the slide as well.

The only thing I don't like is that the slide-frame interface is loose.

I guess it's OK for the price but I'd rather have a gen2 Glock (same price). Or add a few bucks and you can have a used Gen4 Glock or M&P.

Have you shot one? Or just because you like the Glock a lot?

for some people the Glock fits their hands. For me its just not right. I have shot two different ones and the odd grip angle just didn't work for me. Too bad too, because there are so many holsters, parts, tune up kits etc for them.

^^^^ Why I don't own a Glock....

Odd grip angle? You have never held a Steyr then!

I held a G19 last weekend and I have to say it felt better than the G34 I owned. The SR9 still feels slimmer, but nothing beats the ergos (personally) of my Steyr M9A1 - wish the Steyr had the SR9s trigger feel though.

see, its funny, I like the Steyer, but not the Glocks I have had in my mitts.

I like the trigger of my 1911 and its the most accurate pistol I have ever shot.

I really like the feel, build quality and easy field strip of my Girsan (beretta 92A1 clone) and its quite accurate too.

but, every time I use the SR9 for IDPA practice or competition, its just so much better in that role. Quick to point, natural, no damnable decocker to worry about, striker fired for safety, no hammer sticking out, cheap to feed.

if Ruger made one with a tighter slide interface to the frame and tightened up a few things it would be damn near perfect. Oh and got rid of the manual safety. its not needed and just gets in the way
