Ruger SR9

what he said. I tried all sorts of other pistols, both in that price range and above it. This was more accurate, fit my hands better, pointed better etc.

Others who have not shot it and figured it was crap have been both out shot by it and, once having shot it, have wanted one. I had one guy who had a more expensive pistol, say he was going to "upgrade" after having shot mine at 25 meters and put a whole mag in the head of an IDPA target, standing.

Well...thanks to all that have chimed in on this gun. I did look and feel one on Saturday. A twinkling in my head said wait. So... I bought another rifle instead. I may revisit this gun in the future. And it will be my next handgun, just not now.

The SR9 is highly rated and most people love them. I am sorry that yours for some reason is a cheap piece of junk.

I didn't actually review it as junk, and in fact I said most people would be happy to have one.

The point I was trying to get at is that if it were the only gun in the category, it would be just fine.

But since so many better-made options exist, if you see them all lined up on a table you will immediately identify the SR9 as the lower end of the build quality.

That's not saying it's junk, it's just saying that all the other models from well-known manufacturers make something better.

And I'm not talking subjective "better", like one gun may fit you and another one may fit me, I'm talking about 99% of people looking at all the guns in the category side-by-side and immediately noticing that every detail on the SR9 looks cheaper than the rest. The palstic looks like dollar-store plastic, the metal looks lower quality, etc. That's not to say it won't go "bang", but there's a reason it's cheaper than everything else: because it is.

so many? what in the actual price range is so much better? yes the safety and slide release are just punch press sheet metal, and its definitely gritty when brand new, but its $469!! It has a good selection of aftermarket holsters from cheap crap to very nice stuff. It has mags availiable that are reasonably priced. it has some quality aftermarket hop up parts. Not lots but some. Its easy to field strip. The parts that count are solid.

there are a few pistols that are actually cheaper, but barring the very latest stuff out there, they are not as good. IE High point or Norinco. Nothing wrong with those, but they are definitely cheaper.

There are a few pistols that are the same price for sure. The Sam 1911's, the Girsan Beretta clones, the cheapest of the Grand Powers. All good stuff. None are striker fired. good stuff too.
