Ruger SR9

excellent for small handed shooters and very accurate. apparently trigger pull lightens up after a couple hundred rounds (little heavy from the factory)
 
They look promising.

At least they aren't a club like the P85/P89/P90 series pistols. :p

I've had mine not quite a year-and-a-half, and I love it. I have a small hand and the SR9 fits like it was made for me.

I did put some time in to polishing up the trigger "drive train" and took a half or full (can't remember which) off the striker spring to smooth and lighten everything up. It was a heavy and rough pull from the factory. But for me the bit of labour was worth it to have such a nice light and small gun.
 
We had a look inside one at the range a couple of weeks ago...looks like somebody shoehorned Glock internals into the smaller Ruger frame. I hope it sticks around...great feel to it. You hear about barrel peening issues with them, but I don't know how seriously to take the talk.

I'd say in two or three years we'll have a good idea what sort of gun it is.

seem like ruger is offereing the best bang for your buck right now with the sr9. i was shopping around for a 9mm for a while and bought a xd9 but its about $860 and the sr9 is selling for $570ish so you can't beat the value.
 
I bought one, after taking my sweet 8 month's time to decide the SR9 would be best for me. I was originally pulled towards the SR9 because it fits my medium sized hand the best of anything I found and the price is very good.

Then I found the finish and detailing to be excellent (I still can't believe $700 Glocks have the info on the slide stamped in by letter stamps). Finally, despite all the mediocre comments about this, I do appreciate the magazine disconnect and the additional slide safety lever. I don't do drug raids for a living, I'm a regular guy who'll take friends and family to the range; I do want these safety features along with the big red loaded chamber indicator. And the OD Green's cool and new.
 
P&D in Edmonton had a stainless one last week still, and it's amazing how many smaller dealers in towns have one. My friend just picked one up in Lac LaBiche. When I was looking for one I initially ran into out of stocks too, but then posted in WTB in the EE, helpful CGN across Canada PM'd me with where there were good deals in stock near them. That's how I found mine at a terrific deal. Try using that network, they're sitting on shelves in more shops than we realize.
