good day all:
i just purchased my first restricted firearm,a ruger sr9, as my first gun for idpa shooting.
can anyone tell me anything about this firearm.ie reliability, accuracy, etc
i like the small grip profile,so that both me and my wife can shoot it.

any input is greatly appreciated.

thanks Z

They are reasonably accurate and fairly reliable. I have only used one but am not a long term owner so one such can provide better input.

These really are the sorts of questions and research that should be done before purchasing.

My wife loves hers. It's a little small for my hands but I love how it shoots. Accurate, zero problems, eats any 9mm cartridges.

I would suggest removing the magazine safety and do a polish on the internals to smooth out the trigger. A Ghost trigger bar may be on your want list as well. Check out the Ruger forums for some great walk throughs on this little shooter.

For the price it's a great gun.

wouldn't it suck to learn that it's not IDPA legal? :p or that the mods that are required to make it a good gun take it out of IDPA?

ps - should have bought a DE44! or a S&W 629.

Local dealer is supposedly getting some in with OD green frames. If the price is right I might consider one just for the heck of it.
