Just wondering if anyone knows how much different the stock inletting is between a Ruger M77 (tang safety) and a newer Ruger Hawkeye.

I have a Ruger Alaskan that I'd like to put into a composite stock (not plastic and not laminate).

Stuart at Wildcat makes a M77 (tang safety) stock but nothing for the newer models. I'm going to be doing all the fit and finishing
so as long as the basic action inletting is similar I think it should work.

I've already contacted Stuart at Wildcat. He thinks the differences should be minimal but doesn't know for sure.

Although I have never played with a Ruger, I have done a few WildCat stocks. M600 into a M7 stock, Mauser into a Winchester stock, Winchester into a Remington stock.
In the welding trade we just say.... A little more rod & a little more time. The same thing applies here. You just make it work.
