I was just given a Ruger Superb Blackhawk with what looks like six and a half inch barrel. It has a cylinder for 45 Colt and what I believe is to be one in 45 ACP. Does this sound correct? I know nothing of the Rugers or revolvers for that matter. Any info would be great! Thanks

While I agree that it is a Superb choice of firearm, I'm fairly fairly certain it's just a regular New Model Blackhawk Convertable. The Super Blackhawks, to the best of my knowledge, only come in 44mag. The convertable is indeed a 45 colt, and 45acp. I've heard many great stories from owners of that gun, and it's on my longer term list of things I want. The bore diameter is likely .451"-.452". So, it'll work fine with all ammo of either caliber. Enjoy it, it'll likely give you years of worry free shooting.

Sounds like that is what you have, a .45 Convertable with a second cylinder chambered for the .45 Auto. The auto cartridge headspaces on the case mouth, so don't use a roll crimp if you handload the auto cartridge.

As above. Also, I think you will find the barrel 7.5 inches long. They are good guns, I have a 7.5 inch with cylinders in 45 Colt, 45 ACP, and 45 Win Mag (custom job). - dan

I have an Old Model (3-Screw) .45LC/ACP convertible that was cut at 6.5" prior to me getting it - if the previous owner hadn't told me I'd have sworn it was a factory job...
