"Times are definitely not tough at Sturm, Ruger & Company. They recently announced that during the first quarter of 2012 they received orders for more than one million firearms. Because of this first world problem, they’ve decided to temporarily suspend new firearms orders. Ruger’s stock (RGR) has benefited greatly because of the news, it’s risen by 115% since last year and is at its 52-week high. It’s good to see an American company making their products right here in the USA do so well, I just hope that doesn’t mean their prices will rise because of the news, I’ve had my eye on a new Ruger SR22 pistol.

From Ruger’s press release:

- Chief Executive Officer Michael O. Fifer made the following comments:

- The Company’s Retailer Programs that were offered from January 1, 2012 through February 29, 2012 were very successful and generated significant orders from retailers to independent wholesale distributors for Ruger firearms.
- Year-to-date, the independent wholesale distributors placed orders with the Company for more than one million Ruger firearms.
- Despite the Company’s continuing successful efforts to increase production rates, the incoming order rate exceeds our capacity to rapidly fulfill these orders. Consequently, the Company has temporarily suspended the acceptance of new orders.
- The Company expects to resume the normal acceptance of orders by the end of May 2012."

Good to hear, IMO. Unless you're wishing for an SR1911! Hehe...

Also, I respect a company that says they are suspending orders as opposed to continuing to accept more orders knowing full well that they'll be late delivering the product. Better than a lot of companies that just take the money now, then figure out the mess later.

One would think they would just hire more staff or open another facility however I do know that doing this can be harder to keep a grasp on quality assurance/ quality control.

Ruger product has been great for me so far.

Good to see some U.S. based manufactures are doing well in their tough economy.
FWIW...Obama's presidential election was probably the best thing to happened in a long time to help spur the sales of personal firearms & ammo in the U.S. :D

Are you serious?! He's going to ban all semi-autos his next term! Period! That's bad news for everyone. I'm not too happy about the higher prices either. I'm guessing you were sarcastic, I hope.

Well, given the election fraud in the republican primary going on, and the electronic voting polls....I think there's a pretty good chance gobombanation will see a 2nd term.

And if Harper doesn't manage to pass this C-19 bill (without any amendments!), I'm going to vote for my dog come next election.

Yup...very serious
When he got in office, every paranoid gun lover in the U.S. of A. thought he was going to ban everything from bulk .22 ammo to personal grenade launchers.
They ran around like chickens with there heads cut off, buying up everything they could before the bans and genocide kicked in.
Some firearm companies (ie: Ruger) couldn't keep up with the demand that had been created by this neurotic tidal wave and at one point there was actually an ammo shortage throughout the country due to hoarding.

Now you know why they've called him "Firearms Salesman Of The Year" for the last 4 years!!

BTW...how do you know he's going to ban semi-auto's???? (...why would he not ban automatic wepons  ??)

This ban on automatics is a direct statement from the NRA given to them by there inside sources.
