Ruger Ultra Light Scope Ring Alternative?

So I bought a nice litle Ruger ultra light stainless syntheric rifle in 270. It is a sweet well put together rifle and I'm really happy with the exception of the ultra HEAVY solid steel scope rings they included with it. Does anyone know any alternatives? I have always liked Rugers scope mounting system, but the rings are way too heavy for this nice little rifle.

Who makes an alternative?

If you really need to lose some weight there, skeletonize the bottom portion....plenty of steel there to remove and still have a solid mount. I am unaware of any aluminum aftermarket rings for ruger rifles...
 
I was also thinking I could just find a couple flat bottom weaver bases and drill and tap the receiver. I'm generally not a fan of weaver bases although the 270 Winchester is hardly a heavy recoil rifle.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?
 
Burris makes Ruger to Weaver adapter bases.

The Ruger rings are heavy, but they are strong. The ones on my 77MKII 300winmag haven't budged in 5 years. Plus you already have them. No added cost. Put the money towards better, lighter optics, and use a light sling to make up the weight.
That's just my opinion though.
