Rugers Gone Wrong

Wow hoytcanon you have resolved an issue that can be solved by closing your bolt handle on most guns. Truly a genius brain move, how can we hope to get on your level?

I've got an M77 MKII..... it is a little sharp around the bolt handle inlet but it certainly doesn't affect cycling the bolt.
Personally , this rifle is an extension of my body when I am in the field and I have little to complain about if anything.
Mine was detailed and refined by joe dlask some years ago and in a 7mm rem mag, I am stil , years later, very pleased with this firearm.
I've been real rough on her in the field and she is gonna need a new stock soon to keep looking nice but she puts them on point of aim like I need her too and that's all that matters.
 
This one would drive you to drink, Paul... brand spanking new version just released.

SuperC is just making conversation and being young at heart by whining about something trivial that doesn't affect him. All the millennials do it. :)
 
My period-correct B&C Carbelite also has pretty ugly bolt handle inletting, but I still really like the stock. Huge improvement for me. No complaints with fit and finish on this Ruger.

The inletting looks it was done by a toddler with a chainsaw and the whole deal is just plain deal breaking ugly.

My point is to think out of the box... we are all so accustomed to that gouge in the side of the stock that we can't picture it another way... like contouring in an extended section with a gentle slope and having the handle sit in a wider valley that looks intentional rather than the crude gash in the side. I would bet it would also make cycling more positive, especially with those that like to palm the bolt.

I went looking at some high-end and custom rifles to try to find an example that fits your description, no luck so far
It seems no one puts much thought into it
