Hawkeye rifles, wow must be surgical precision! (just for you MASH fans...)

Cool... (yeah, big M*A*S*H fan...)................:)

I'd like to see one of these new babies in .260 Rem.... and it's nice to see Ruger finally doing something about their stock factory triggers...

Here's my M77 MkII Compact, 16 1/2" barrel. In 7mm-08, scoped with a Burris Fullfield II 3x9. This is the trigger that I recently "filed and polished" from 5.4 lbs down to 2.7 lbs. She swings fast and deadly, 3/8" group @ 100 yds. Hornady 139 gr. Interlocks.

Now that is one sweet lookin' rifle...

And 3/8" groups at 100 yards...

Any speculation on when these will be in Canada, or will it be 1-2years like the rem 798?

There was talk on one of the American forums that the Hawkeyes will be available spring of 07. Probably later for up here me thinks. It'd be nice if they were around for hunting season next year at least...

I think that Ruger is making a move (more like pounce) on the abandoned Winchester fans - tuning the 77 up to offer everything in a rifle that the CRF model 70 Winnies had. Now they're just as slim and possibley with a better trigger. Smart move me thinks. They'll sell some rifles to the Winchester guys and when/if Winchester is reincarnated Ruger may well just keep some ex Winchester customers. ;)

I finally see a reason to get a Mini 14 and a 20" barreled stainless steel Hawkeye in 375 Ruger sounds like another must have but then again the compact in 338 Federal or 358 Win sounds awesome as well.

It is nice to see a few changes and improvements from Ruger. Although it will probably be a year or two, I will likely pick up one of the new .358's.

That Hogue stock from the factory on the 375 Ruger Alaskan is aluminum pillar bedded fellas and freefloats the 20" barrel. The rubber overmolding provides positive grip and a very quiet stock going through the bush. I've got the full aluminum bedding block versions on my 260 and 270 and love them! They have a semi beavertail forend which work very well. The improved triggers and new short action 375 cal. plus a great stock....here's a winner boys. Will it come in left hand versions for south paws????

Chilly must have meant 'standard-action' (At best):) . Still, could be a nice package.

Fingers crossed..............I am intrigued by the .375 Ruger.

Well, the original series of Winchester belted magnums were known as 'short' magnum actions. Short compared to the full-magnum H&H or 300 (and bigger) wby family.

So does that mean that the current 'short magnums' should actually be called 'super short magnums,' and the WSSM's should actually be WSSSM's?

When a new cartridge bears the names of two American shooting sports legends, it had better be something special. Hornady's new 375 Ruger is just that!
This newly designed powerhouse is slightly larger in diameter than the 30-06, but shares the same case overall length, which means it can be chambered in ANY standard length action. All this and it still out performs the 375 H&H but with a 20" barrel.

There's some speculation that the dimensions will be:
rim dia = .532",
base dia = .532"(perhaps .550"),
case length = approx 2.5" and the case will have a minimal taper.

Powder capacity will exceed the .375 H&H

I guess we'll find out for sure aftee the Shot Show in January 07. That's when Steve Hornady is scheduled to make the formal announcements.

Looks like Hornady's got a bunch of interesting new stuff. Obviously working with Ruger and Marlin to woo us out of more money. A Ruger #1 in 450-400 3"...and nice compact 375 Ruger? This will be a good year.

Isn't that basically the .375 Dakota?

I was thinking it may be an beltless .375 Taylor. (.338 Win Mag necked up).

The Dakota has a rim/base dia of .545". By using the .532", the Ruger round will fit a standard magnum bolt face.

If the belt of a .375 Taylor was removed, the base dia would be .513". By going to an unbelted .532 Base, the Ruger will have significantly more powder capacity.

As I said, it's speculation at this point in time.

Just think of the wildcat possibilities.:)
