I like the idea of this gun but I'm concerned that in .45ACP it will not be accurate. Interested in feedback on that count. My thinking is the length difference of .45 Long Colt compared to .45ACP is too great and the projectile will be unsupported for like .375 of an inch in the cylinder before the projectile reaches the sized cylinder. I take it the gun is hard to buy as well, near as I can tell. Would welcome owners comments on the gun.

Not to complicate the post but here is my situation:
I own a Freedom Arms .454 that I love. Mostly shoot .45 Long Colt in it. I want to get an extra cylinder in .45ACP for this gun. Getting the cylinder would cost me over $1000 CDN with shipping, custom broker and F/A's charge of $450. That is a lot of money. The Ruger is around $1400. I would never recover half that extra cost on resale of the F/A gun. I don't want to throw away money but want an accurate gun. I had a Ruger Blackhawk .45ACP/.45 Long Colt Lipsey and it wasn't accurate so I got rid of it and bought the Freedom Arms. Anyway that is my story. I'm awful tempted to go the extra cylinder route and suck it up. I don't ever plan to sell the F/A. Too bad I haven't worked in 18 months!

Keep the 45 acp for auto's and use the 45 colt like it was made for. In all the convertibles the 45 acp is an afterthought. S&W made a specific 45acp revolver, and the ppc guys love it. I would just load down the 45 colt if you want lighter loads, and the moon clips are a pain. Had the 45 colt/acp Redhawk, and love the gun for 45 colt, I just found the grips a little too slender for my paws

I have a S&W 625, it is a dream gun. I like the revolvers in the winter a lot better than digging brass out of the snow, that is if you can find it!

I decided to forget the conversion of the F/A and have bought a different gun. Talk about all over the map. But considering the cost of the conversion and loss if resold you could say I got this gun for free. I have an offer on a Colt 1911 Delta Elite in 10mm. I have 1911s in 40 S&W, 45 ACP, 45-08, and now 10mm. Want to get a 9mm at some point as well. I will be selling my like new Glock 22 with two Lone Wolf conversion bbls to fund this little deal.

Thanks to those that responded, sorry if I'm all over the map. Christmas present to me HeHe!
