It looks like they may have addressed the thin barrel issue:

Judging by the looks of the barrel/gas block, it looks like they only addressed the thin-part-of-the-barrel-that-you-can-see issue. Oh, well, time for another expensive disappointment in my continuing quest for an accurate Mini.:runaway:

Some gun manufacturer (Springfield?) out there should make a scaled down M-14 and chamber it for 5.56 Have an integral optics mount built into it and then market it. The American market would go nuts. Ruger would be left in the dust.

I don't understand why the Ruger Minis are inaccurate, while the M-14, Garands, Nork M305's, and other rifles seem fine. (From what I hear.)

What makes the Rugers inaccurate? The basic design is proven...

pencil-thin barrel is the problem on the mini-14

I personally know a fella in the states with a heavy Lilja re-bbl and it shoots like a dream. Ruger would be smart to quit dickin around and properly mount some real barrels on those things. That barrel 'tuner' is the ugliest 'quick fix' around. Nice stock though... unfortunately accuracy is a little more important to most people than a pretty stock. Silly silly silly Ruger management.

The funny thing is that Ruger makes the receivers for springfield's
M1A ....

they say the biggest issue with mini's is "barrel whip" caused by the thin barrel in front of the clamped on gas block.....sure would be nice to have a light MOA mini...

apparently the Ruger shooting team has been using these new rifles to much success. wiping the floor with specialty AR shooters in all sorts of competitions.

Pretty lame gas/operating system on them too. I can't see that contributing anything to the accuracy.

I read in "Rifle shooter" about them and the fellow who tested these new Rugers talked about 3" groups, he got from it.
I dunno but none of my guns shoot that bad.

When I used to work for a gun store here in town I'd get guys all the time asking "Do you have any of those Mini-14's? " I'd turn around grab an SKS and say "You can thank me latter". now I would hand them an 858. :D

That's funny as the mag I read (guns and ammo Dec 2006) stated groups from 1.18 -1.4 avg with the best groups being 55 grn Hornady at .56 and Rem 50 grn at .68
While I get amazingly annoyed by the mini haters out there you must all be AMAZING SHOOTERS
My quick research shows accuracy rating much poorer than most profess on "better rifles"
Savage 12 LRPV ...1 1/8 -1 5/8
SOCOM 16 (M-14)....2 3/4
Kimber Pro varmint ....1.766
Stevens 200....1.866
Winchester SXR.....2.893
SAKO 85.....3.319

I shot a tricked out one at the PoCo range that impressed me alot...I have always liked the mini-14 ...It must have been the A-Team exposure.
