RUGGED optics for rough bush use

Id look at a low power Leupold VXr, has some magnification and has the firedot.
The Leupold VX-R is a great scope. Also eligible for the CDS dials and reticle changes. The 2-7x32 doubles as a red dot on low power. At low light it works quite well. Low weight and compact. On my Marlin 1895 GSBL it did not affect the balance at all. I dont think you could put a better scope on a lever gun.

Yep...great scopes and love the firedots.

If you keep rolling quads and tipping canoes why not buy a sturdy waterproof gun case.
Take the rifle out when you plan to hunt.

Then use whatever scope you think is suitable.

In all honesty I've never broken a Bushnell Elite series scope....Burris, Leupold, Swarovski, Sightron and Zeiss have all had to be sent in for repairs of one type or another...your mileage may vary! :)

I had sent the same elite 4200 back to for repairs 3 times before I gave up on it and sold all my remaining Bushnell Products.

Given what the OP has described I would be looking at anything with a milspec certification. Aimpoint, Eotech and Acog all come to mind.

EoTech, aimpoint and Trijicon are the toughest out there. EoTech and Aimpoint for standard AAA batteries. Aimpoint Micro for CR2032. Aimpoints go for years on a battery. If you want to forgo batteries all together get magnification AND great glass get a Trijicon Acog. Or zero magnification and an RmR. If you can kill ANY of these, I’d be impressed

RMR's die pretty regularly on pistols.....

If you want to use what the CF uses, Elcan is pretty spiffy... Probably cost you a pretty penny, but it def won't break easily.
