Rugger 10/22 Takedown

New member makes a post inquiring about a certain firearm and what I see are put downs because they misspelled something. What a pack of fools. Is it any wonder that the government has such an easy time taking our sport away. We can't even support each f u c king other.
Rugger is now a trigger word that invites mockery thanks to Safety G!
I wouldn't worry about it too much, if the OP is hurting he can change the spelling , plus now he has the correct spelling in case he wants to step beyond CGN in his online quest for info....

I've actually thought about a takedown model many times... just never pulled the trigger on one.
I have a couple very fancy and expensive 10/22 builds but the takedown intrigues me for some reason.
I'm interested in people's experiences also.
I'm thinking the Magpul backpacker stock is mandatory. I would aslo prefer a left side charging option if possible. And the optic mounted on the barrel end...

Lots of fun to pack into the quad box.. Reasonably quick to assemble and fire. Get yourself some mountain chickens...
This is my model and bag but with detachable Nikon rimfire scope on a Weaver base that allows the use of the iron sights. Cheers
I had the same idea years ago, and started the rabbit hole research.
Ended up putting together a fancy one instead, and have been SUPER happy with it. Don't listen to the nay sayers about accuracy. I set my scope up to zero at 50m, and shoot grouse heads when out hunting. Its actually pretty neat to not have to get so super close to the grouse and I can stop back a bit.
I went with the Taccsol receiver, and mainly because of the dual spring setup, with a volquartsen carbon barrel. Nice and packable, and very decent accuracy with it.
Pic is a little out of focus, but it is a 10 shot group at 50M with SK match, back in May. Off the bench with a bag.

Great little semi and more accurate than I expected.
I found the key is adjusting the barrel nut to take out all the slop and I replaced the trigger with a BX.
Seems lots of people hate on them but it’s lost on me as to why, I’d buy one again…not that I’d need to.

Fore stock is the alum one that comes with the volquartsen barrel. It carries the scope rail, and hence the scope. Back stock is the back half of the Adaptive Tactical TD stock. I lined the fore stock and back stock with black carbon vinyl wrap I had laying around after I did my kitchen. I has surprisingly held up well for 8 years, and even on the grip.
It adjusts quickly for when the kids are shooting it, and nicely carries 2 spare magazines.

Another reason to go with the Tacsol receiver. I had to order mine in from the US as no no one in Canada carried them back then. Now a few dealers have stock.
All out build: Kidd single stage trigger as well for the win!
I had a Ruger 10/22 takedown. And it was a perfectly fine rifle. It was not going to compete with my CZ or Savage bolt guns for raw accuracy but it was acceptable by my standards for that style rifle AND It served a purpose none of my CZ or savages could. It packed down into a back pack and went to the range with me via motorcycle. And for that and the easier cleaning. I really enjoyed it.
Now i did sell mine in favour of clearing safe space for what I just preferred style wise and picked up a second newer version of my favourite take down rifle. A Browning S/A 22. Betters the Ruger in quality, style, and elegance if you will. But accuracy and reliability are about on par (Ruger May even be slightly better at feeding).
