Hello, I am getting my first pistol and am really leaning towards the ruger mark III and am wondering if the target version is worth the few extra bucks or if the standard version is the way to go? I have not had the opportunity to shoot any of the other 22's yet but was very impressed with the ruger. (I would still like to try the browning buckmark) I will also be getting a 9mm (leaning towards a Cz right now but still have a few trips to the range to make sure I get the right gun for me) this site is a great source of info and has steered me onto the right path I believe... Plus I get to tell the wife that I need 2 guns, one for her and one for me haha

Target versions come with a rail if you're planning to mount optics onto it (I have a scope on mine because I was feeling silly :p). I went with a hunter/target version just because I didn't like the look of the standard tapered barrel. Both most likely will out shoot the shooter anyways.

You might want to consider the Mark III Hunter, it's the one I have, very accurate, however, if I would had the choice, the Browing Buckmark IS my first choice.

I also have the Colt Gov. model 1911 22lr, very accurate, reliable and fun to shoot !!!!! but again...... Buckmark my first choice...

I also have in the 9mm a Beretta 92fs and a Beretta PX4Storm, both with 1000 rounds shot so far without any jams, first choice out of those........ the 92fs, full steel gun......

Thanks fellas, I will hold off till I can at least get my hands on a browning and compare, then the search to buy one will begin.
