I have the opertunity to buy a rugger over under 20 guage that has skeet marked on the barrels. the gun is in mint shape and not a mark on it. I think it might be a red label. did rugger make any other over unders? and what would be a fair price to buy it. thanks

both barrels fixed skeet choke limits the gun to what it can be used for... however it helps you greatly in negotiating the price. Installing fixed chokes here in canada will run you a couple hundred bucks... the last red label I looked at had fixed ic/m chokes and was 900.00. I would say 750 to 800 with fixed skeet chokes. Is the receiver blued or silver?

if it is a skeet gun in may not be a three inch mag whitch can limit some hunting like geese if u just want it for rabbits and groues woodcock should be okay

I have heard of only a couple of problems with the early production guns, a lot more with the later ones. have a good look at the breech face. See if there is a strong imprint of the shotgun shell head on it. Being a skeet choked gun, this will give you a good indication if it's been used for a lot of trap rounds. Not necessarily an indication of problems, just another negotiating chip for you. What's your intended use for the gun?

That price is a bit high for that gun, unless you really want it,
than go for it. I would think that if a skeet gun , it will not be
3", thou I have never had a ruger skeet.
If it is like my 101's winchester sheet, they are 2 3/4" and the
barrels are too thin at muzzel to install choke tubes.
