I was given a .22LR bolt gun a while ago. It was in pieces and not working, parts of the trigger assembly are missing (not even sure as of yet). Magazine is missing as well.

Haven't had the time to even look at it until now.

I suspect I could get it to work and thought of turning it into a single shot (if I can't find a magazine) with some decent glass.

Just not sure if its the type of gun I ought to be spending any amount of time on. It appears to be decently built, better than the current Marlin or Savage rimfire offerings, (they still shoot fine, just feel a little cheap).

Curious if any can comment on whether or not I should expend any effort or just put the parts back away.

Well I got the gun working.

Modified the trigger group so I could install some improvised springs; now the trigger mechanism works as it ought to. Also made a nylon plate to fit in the bottom of the receiver enabling it to function fine as a single shot.

So basically it cost me nothing but my time (and when I am tinkering with guns it's time well spent). Will see how accurate it turns out to be, once I find a nice target scope on the EE. Am not expecting anything marvelous but it will be a enjoyable project for the winter.
